Logo of ACT The research in linear control theory has a long tradition in the Institute. During the 1960s researchers of the Institute made considerable developments in both transfer-function and state-space methods. During the 1970s and the 1980s, the members of the Department achieved significant results, which launched an entirely new area of research worldwide. Among these are the parametrization of all controllers stabilizing a given plant (known as the Youla-Kučera parametrization) and the design of control systems via polynomial equations. Starting the 1990s, the research activities of the department ranged from robust control to nonlinear systems.

In the present time, Department of control theory focuses on nonlinear systems, including chaotic systems and general systems theory. Theoretical results are then successfully applied to specific practical areas like modelling and control of biological and biotechnological systems, modelling and control of mechanical systems, including robotic walking analysis and design. Further topics are related to multi-agent systems, large-scale systems, nonlinear systems interconnected in complex networks and control of distributed parameter systems based on multivariate polynomials.

Project will be devoted to the investigation of novel concepts for the analysis and design of nonlinear controllers of flexible and chained mechanical systems to either compensate or control efficiently their oscillatory modes and limit cycles.
Duration: 2019 - 2021
The aim of the project is to find new procedures and methods that allow the efficient synchronization and the decentralized control of complex networks, especially the elimination of some influences, for example, the time delays, quantization, change of the behavior of nodes, loss of connection, etc.

The project deals with design of novel methods for control of large-scale and multi-agent systems in presence of nonlinearities, quantizations and time delay, with a focus on systems controlled by communication networks. A special attention is paid to systems composed of identical subsystems.
Duration: 2017 - 2019
Project is devoted to the research of the novel methods of the design of underactuated walking for mechanical walking-like systems using the recently introduced methodology based on the so-called collocated virtual holonomic constraints.
Duration: 2013 - 2016
Project deals with novel advanced methods for global analysis and control design for decomposed strongly nonlinear state space dynamical models with complex interactions of their components. Focus will be made on multivalued uncertain dynamical systems, especially the multivalued systems class that might be called as the "systems of systems".
