(eng): The paper dives an overview of feature selection techiques in statistical pattern recognition with particular emphasis to recent knowledge. Besides discussing the advances in methodology it attempts to put them into a taxonomical framework. The methods discussed include the latest variants of the optimal algorithms, enhanced sub-optimal techniques and the simultaneous semi-parametric probability density function modeling and feature space selection method.

(cze): Článek dává přehled technik výběru příznaků ve statistickém rozpoznávání s důrazem na aktuální poznatky. Nejen diskutuje pokroky v metodologii ale tvoří z nich taxonomii. Disutují se mimo jiné poslední varianty optimálních algoritmů, pokročilé suboptimální techniky a souběžné semi-parametrické modelování hustot pravděpodobnosti s výběrem podprostoru.
