(eng): Visual data, such as images and videos, are frequently used as evidence in court trials. If the data quality is insufficient to convince the court, a carefully tailored data processing algorithm supported with expert’s opinion is necessary. We present two real cases from our forensic expertise practice, in which we demonstrate a successful application of video superresolution that helped to convict offenders. The most important feature of image processing algorithms to be legally accepted by the court, is to rule out artifacts with realistic details, which are known to appear for example in deep learning methods.
