New book on Visual Texture

Visual texture: Accurate Material Appearance Measurement, Representation and Modeling by Michal Haindl and Jiří Filip is a comprehensive text/reference that surveys of the state of the art in multidimensional, physically-correct visual texture modeling. It is the first book to provide a detailed treatment of texture synthesis as well as the only book covering all known aspects of the most advanced visual surface representation – the Bidirectional Texture Function.

UTIA BTF Database released

UTIA BTF database is a new source of publicly available bidirectional texture function (BTF) measurements. As accurate acquisition and processing of BTF data is expensive, time and resource demanding there is a lack of publicly available BTF datasets for research purposes. Our motivation is to support correct material appearance modelling research by offering several novel high-resolution HDR datasets. The UTIA BTF database is gradually expanding.
